Three luxury towers of varying topography house 122 residential units over an 18,000-square-meter natural park reserve. Floor-to-ceiling windows provide endless views of the cityscape, and penthouses enjoy panoramic views of the park, the river and the city below with large terraces, grills and pools.

This is Jade Park, an “urban oasis” in Asunción, Paraguay, and a continuation of the Jade residences in southern Florida from real estate firm Fortune International Group. Jade Park is also the first building in Paraguay with the internationally recognized style of Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott. Cummins Latin America supplied three generator sets (models C1000D5B, C1400D5, C1675D5) to be used as backup power, thus ensuring continuous, stable power for residents and visitors of the complex.

Throughout the 1970s Ott worked on major development projects in the U.S., Costa Rica, Canada and the United Arab Emirates. He rose to international fame in 1983, when he won the design competition for the Opera de la Bastille in Paris, a project that commemorated the 200-year anniversary of the French Revolution. This opened the door to many other competitions and accomplishments all over the world for years to come.

The city of Asunción was chosen by Fortune International Group for the first Jade building in Latin America, in partnership with Jiménez Gaona y Lima, the leading construction company in Paraguay.

Whereas the customer had a long history of working with another generator set supplier, Cummins demonstrated its leadership early on, thus gaining the business opportunity over the incumbent supplier. "We started working with the engineers in charge of design and construction," said Power Generation Sales Manager Patricia Gabriela Miracle. "This enabled us to be considered as a partner that wanted to give them the best solution. So, they opened the doors to us and this drove us to get the project."

Cummins demonstrated to Jade Park that it had the ability to provide a high-performance power system together with professional sales and service support at a cost-effective price. Local service was key, along with the brand reputation and The Power of One™ offered by Cummins as a complete power solution provider.
