Cummins Showcases Newest Engine and Generator Technology at ARA

Anaheim, California
Cummins ARA Show 2019

Cummins Inc. (NYSE – CMI) announced that it showcased the B6.7™ Performance Series engine for the first time to the rental market at the American Rental Association Show (ARA) on booth 6513. The Performance Series are the latest industrial engines for rental construction equipment and are US Tier 4 Final and EU Stage V certified.

"The B6.7 continues our legacy of innovation by delivering up to 9 percent higher power and 31 percent higher peak torque," said Bruce Farrar, Director - Industrial OEM Sales & Support at Cummins. "This means increased machine capability for manufacturers. The simpler EGR-free design makes them more reliable and cheaper to run for operators."

Performance Series engines range from F3.8 to X12 (74 hp - 515 hp) and deliver more with less. On average, 10 percent more power and 20 percent more torque, with higher fuel efficiency, lower noise and less servicing. The Single Module aftertreatment features SCR technology with a much higher NOx conversion capability than previous systems, eliminating the need for EGR on the engine. The DPF removes 99 percent of particulate matter. The new aftertreatment option offers installation simplicity and space saving with a 20 percent lighter and a 40 percent smaller package.

"Our latest engines provide economic benefits to the rental market. Downtime costs money so these engines are more reliable with extended service intervals. The simplified global engine platform gives maximum flexibility on where the machine can be sold in its second life," added Farrar.

During the show, Cummins also showcased the C70D2RE, the newest member of the mobile generator set product line, powered by US Tier 4 Final QSB5-G11 engine. The new 70kWe generator set is designed to meet diverse customer needs across a wide variety of rental uses  The new generator set is fitted with alternators from the trusted Cummins Stamford product line and the entire system is monitored by the Cummins PowerCommand 3.3 controller.

All major components of the new generator set are designed and manufactured by Cummins. The QSB5-G11 engine meets the stringent EPA standards without the use of a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which offers increased performance and facilitates serviceability.

This new model, as well as the newly released C100D2RE 100-kilowatt (kWe) mobile generator set, replaces the Tier 3 generator sets offering top tier efficiency. The generator sets are designed to operate in high temperatures up to 50 degrees Celsius which make them robust and reliable for all rental applications. The standard package offers dual frequency operation and switchable voltage functionality, while a 600V option is offered for the Canadian market.

With increased reliability, greater performance and improved flexibility, the C70D2RE offers a truly unique rental solution, making it a perfect fit for a variety of applications and duty ratings throughout North America.

In addition to the design and manufacturing capabilities offered, Cummins rental customers can rely on a wide network of nearly 200 sales and service locations across North America.
