Cummins Engine Components (CEC) presents the 7th generation HE250 and HE300 Wastegate Turbocharger (WGT) for mid-range engines

""

The Series HE250 and 300 WGT are applicable for 5.5-8 liter medium-duty diesel engines and 8-11 liter Natural Gas engines for the global On- and Off-highway commercial vehicle market. The next generation HE250 and 300 WGT are designed to meet the stringent global emissions regulations from 2024 and beyond and align with the upcoming China Stage IV FE 2024, NSVII 2026 and Euro VII 2027 emission regulations.

Delivering significant improvements on performance and durability, the next generation turbochargers offer:

  • 6 - 7% efficiency improvement to create best-in class turbochargers
  • Enhanced durability and reliability which helps in minimizing the down time
  • Range of turbo matching options with compressor map-width and higher-pressure ratio that offers improved transient response and altitude capability
  • 6 - 8dB turbo noise reduction capability to meet the upcoming noise regulations
  • World-leading compressor and turbine stage performance for mid-range engines and turbocharger families
  • Improved low-end torque and engine start and stop capabilities, and boost cruise point turbomachine for optimal performance and best in class fuel consumption

The upcoming HE250 and HE300 WGT offer further enhancements by introducing a turbine wheel with new full-back shroud. It also features a turbine housing with Twin-D volute design and maximum mass optimization. Compressor mounted actuation and improved compressor cover surface finish. The other benefits offered are:

  • Improved turbo efficiency at cruise point directly into BSFC improvement (2-3 pts) or increased miles per gallon for the diesel engine
  • Improved aesthetics of lower turbo noise
  • Compatibility with both electric and pneumatic actuation
  • A modular product, adaptable to any aftertreatment systems such as exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), Non-EGR, selective catalytic reduction (SCR), Diesel particulate filter (DPF), Diesel Oxidation Catalysts (DOC) etc.

At Cummins Inc., our continued investment in research and development enables us to engineer new solutions and provide immense value to our customers. Designed by the CEC Global Engineering team and manufactured in Wuxi, China, followed by Dewas, India, the latest Series turbochargers will launch in Q1 of 2024.

Implementing the latest design practices, the next-generation turbochargers offer cutting-edge air handling technology which exceeds performance expectations and provide excellent value to our customers around the globe.

Los Custompaks de Cummins se utilizan para la gestión del agua mientras Tailandia lucha con su crisis de agua

Water crisis

Sixty Cummins Inc. CustomPaks are in service in Thailand as part of a critical water management plan aimed at easing the country’s water crisis – a crisis that has caused enormous economic and social damage and stirred conflict among communities.

En las últimas décadas, Tailandia ha enfrentado continuamente problemas de agua causados por una grave sequía. Water reserves in dams and reservoirs are insufficient while water resources are often contaminated with toxins caused by urban communities and the industrial and agricultural sectors.

Severe flooding is a threat, too, at a time when the realities of climate change are hanging over the country.

As a result, the allocation of precious water resources, which must be shared among various stakeholders including new and existing industry, large and small agriculture, and cities and villages has become a flashpoint.

Kittithanapat Engineering Co. (KTP), has been involved in the water management system since 1996, working closely with authorities such as the Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Water Resources, Bangkok Metropolitan Authority and others.

600 hp CustomPaks

To help KTP meet its often urgent requirements, Cummins DKSH (Thailand) has recently supplied 60 Australian-built CustomPaks - 45 powered by Cummins' X15 engine rated at 600 hp, and 15 powered by the QSL9 rated at 325 hp. These fully self-contained powerpacks are emissions certified to Tier 3.

The CustomPaks are coupled to hydraulically-driven, large-volume submersible water pumps sourced by KTP from US company Moving Water Industries (MWI); KTP is the exclusive distributor in Thailand for these MWI Hydroflo pumps.

Prior to Cummins’ involvement, KTP was using another diesel engine brand but service support wasn’t up to the standard required.

Long-serving KTP engineer Kittisak Thanasoot says Cummins DKSH’s reputation for technical and aftersales support along with the reliability of the Cummins product were a key reason behind KTP’s decision to specify the CustomPaks for the Royal Irrigation Department.

The ability of Cummins DKSH to respond to short delivery times was also important.

“Supplying large quantities of high horsepower diesel engines for emergency situations such as flash flooding can be a challenge for KTP,” says Kittisak Thanasoot.

“Responding to the needs of the government agencies to manage such problems in a timely manner and with least impact on communities, KTP has found the answer in our partnership with Cummins DKSH.”
