Cummins delivers 10,000 COVID kits to truckers in Mexico

Cummins Mexico COVID kits for truck drivers

In a show of support and gratitude for Mexico's truck drivers, Cummins Mexico and its distributors supplied more than 10K COVID-19 safety kits to truck drivers around the country.

While many of us did our part to contain the Coronavirus pandemic by staying home and social distancing, our essential workers made sure that our world continued to turn. Late last year, Cummins Mexico and its New and ReCon Parts (NRP) organization partnered with Valvoline, Fleetguard and Club Motor to thank the nation's truckers for their service-and get them tools they needed to stay safe.

Through a campaign called True Heroes Never Stop, Cummins Mexico and its distributors supplied more than 10,000 pandemic safety kits to heavy truck drivers across the country. The kits included a mask, antibacterial gel, and a safety information card.

COVID-19 kits, like the one handed out here, contained several items to help keep Mexico's truck drivers safe during the pandemic.

"I think COVID has made us all think about what it means to be a hero. All over the world, truckers haul the goods and materials that keep us fed, our roads in repair and our hospitals running-- and this invaluable service didn't stop in the face of COVID," said Senior Communication and Events Specialist Claudia Ramos, Cummins Inc. "Cummins is proud to provide these heroes with kits to help them lower their risk of infection while they continue their vital work for all of us."

Cummins and partners will continue with this program this year from its San Luis Potosí plant.

"I'm pleased that Cummins is talking to the drivers [and] truckers as a group. We're honestly very happy with what Cummins is offering today,"  said Lucas Rodriguez, one of the highway heroes to receive a COVID kit.  "Thank you for making contact with the drivers and giving us the chance to talk."
