Orange County Parks and Recreation has the following fun events and community meetings:

FREE Fort Christmas Bluegrass in the Park, April 5

  • Bluegrass in the Park returns! This is a free event on Saturday, April 5 from 9:45 a.m. - 4 p.m., at Fort Christmas Historical Park in Christmas. Bring chairs, blankets and a picnic or purchase from food trucks. This is a free event, open to the public. Visit Fort Christmas Historical Park for more information. Questions?     • 10 a.m. Sandy Back Porch

    • 2 p.m. The Canada Brothers Reunion
    • 2:50-3:10 p.m. BBQ & Bake Awards

Orange County Parks and Recreation has the following fun and educational Earth Month activities in April:
  • April 20-26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.: Eco-Scavenger Hunt at Tibet-Butler Preserve - pick up a list for the hunt at the office.
  • April 20-26, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.: Alligator Arts and Crafts at Magnolia Park Eco Education Center.
  • April 22, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.: Eco Education Classroom Open House with Ambassador Animal Interactions, Guided Hikes, Environmental Education Activities and Giveaways at Tibet-Butler Preserve.
  • April 22, 11-11:45 a.m.: Walking tour around Lake Apopka to learn about different types of trees, animals, and plant life that call the Lake home at Magnolia Park Eco Education Center.

FREE Monthly Senior Fish4Fun Event at Renaissance Senior Center!
  • Orange County Parks & Recreation and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission join together to bring you Senior Fish4Fun for ages 55 and older at Renaissance Senior Center, 3800 S. Econlockhatchee Trail, Orlando. This is a once-a-month free catch-n-release fishing event! Fishing poles and bait provided while supplies last, or participants can bring their own fresh-water fishing gear. Questions? Call Renaissance Senior Center 407-254-9070 or email parks@ocfl.net.

  • FREE Fort Christmas Barnyard Banter: Cows are Fun, April 19
    • All ages are welcome to join in the Barnyard Banter program at Fort Christmas Historical Park on Saturday, April 19, from 1-2 p.m.! This month’s free event: Cows are Fun, a discussion on the historic Florida cattle industry and a closer look at a cow and how they are judged.
