Frequent planned outages on the west coast drives resident to home generator solution

Salinas, California (USA) is known as the "Salad Bowl of the World" for its large, vibrant agriculture industry. The marine climate is ideal for flowers, grape vineyards, and vegetables. But being near the coast, the town experiences high winds in addition to extreme temperatures in the summer so it is a designated disaster area for wildfires. 

With increased wildfire concerns over the past few years, power companies have started to implement planned outages on the west coast more frequently. This is what prompted David Alexander, a Salinas resident, to reignite his search for a whole house generator to provide backup power for his home.

Alexander had considered a generator over the years. But with heightened frustration over consistent outages recently, his need for reliable power was more critical than ever.

With the location decided, Alexander and Day Electric had one more challenge to navigate. The install location that had been identified was down a steep hillside on the property. With no fear, Day Electric contracted a mobile crane to come over to support the install.

The machine hoisted the generator from the driveway down to the final location. Alexander said, "It was not an easy project, but it went very smoothly."
